Ameris Bank Names Mark D. Walker as Regional President for Florida and Coastal Georgia Banking Markets.

Jacksonville, FL - Today, Andrew B. Cheney, Ameris Bank - Banking Group President, announced that longtime Florida banker, Mark D. Walker, was named Regional President for Ameris Bank's Florida and Coastal Georgia markets. Mr. Walker will assume responsibility for all core banking activities in Northeast Florida and Coastal Georgia. Walker has been a resident of North Florida, for many years and will maintain his office at the St. Johns Town Center location of Ameris Bank.
In making this announcement, Mr. Cheney stated, "Mark will be an outstanding addition to our team. For thirty years, he has been one of the top bankers in Florida, known for his exceptional leadership and vision." Mark joined the Ameris Bank Special Assets Team in November 2009. His banking career includes President & CEO roles with Barnett Bank, Bank of America, Florida Bank, and Mercantile Bank in the Alachua County, Gainesville, Florida area. Cheney further commented, "Mark is an exceptional banker. His valuable experience will help us continue to build our Company." Mark received his Bachelor's Degree in Finance from the University of Florida.
Walker's civic participation has included work with the Association of Retarded Citizens, Chamber of Commerce, Hospice, and United Way.
